Lamboya Pasola Field

Attraction: Cultural

Pasola is the name of an ancient war ritual involving two groups of selected Sumbanese men. They ride their colorfully decorated horses flying wooden spears at each other. The biggest ritual of the year is held here in Lamboya, the Pasola festival. A ritual to spill blood in honor of their ancestors and as a sacrifice for a good harvest ahead. Literally blood has been spilled here, deaths have also happened in the past. There are two megalithic tombs stones on the site and amazing views down to wanokaka from the edge of the site. Often you can see buffalo in a water hole between the edge of the road and the site.
